Counting down...

I managed to get Louisa's sandals changed yesterday. I couldn't believe my luck. There were only 2 pairs left, a size 5 and Louisa's size 9. She was very happy with her sandals and even happier when I added some beads to them.

My youngest sis reminded me that in 10 days, we'll be back in Singapore. I know it's soon but that soon?! I'd better get down to real proper packing. Going to be a very busy last 10 days in UK for the year.

Started on packing

I'd actually put all the summer clothes in the luggage since beginning of Autumn. It's so nice that they get to wear the summery clothes again in December. A few days back, I let the girls try on the clothes to make sure they still fit and that they still like them. There's only one dress which Louisa didn't like so I'm not going to bring that. Other than that, they're all set to parade in them when they're in Singapore.

I bought each of them a new pair of sandals about 2 months back. Didn't show them till recently and Louisa declared she prefers Lavigne's. When I bought them, Lavigne's sandals was the only pair left. So I bought another design for Louisa. But since then, I'd noticed the store had brought in more of the one I bought for Lavigne so I will bring back Louisa's for exchange.

Louisa is quite like me in fashion sense. She prefers bright, cheery colours....skirts and dresses rather than pants. She doesn't like anything that's sporty or boyish, prefers girly designs. She's delighted she'll get to wear all her pretty skirts soon. Lavigne is starting to show her preference too. She'll tell me what she wants to wear and what she doesn't, thankfully not all the time though.

Though the excitement is starting to buildup, I'm not entiring looking forward to the journey home. Travelling with 2 children under the age of 5 is daunting enough, let alone it's a 14 hour flight.

Out of action

Some of you may have been wondering where have I been these few days or what has happened to me since I'd not been online for the past couple of days. I'm still around, it's just that my computer had died on me. Last Thursday, there was a power failure, not once...not twice but several times in one afternoon. My computer was on then and when I had the chance to switch it back on in the evening, I realised something was wrong. It kept rebooting itself. I'd not backed up most of my stuff but since there were so much things on my mind then, I didn't panic. Adrian took the CPU to his office to get it checked and luckily we could retrieve all the data and files. It's my fault that I didn't backup my stuff which I know I should. I've learnt my lesson.
I'm now typing this using Adrian's laptop (with his permission of course!) and am not sure when my computer will be up and running again. So it'll be a while more before you'll see me online again.

Sweet Clare

Did this LO and posted it to Joan and Terence as a small gift for the birth of their beautiful daughter, Clare. She's one baby who's got this girly and sweet look you can tell straightaway she's a girl just by looking at her, unlike my 2 girls who looked like boys when they were babies.

X-ray

A doctor from the hospital rang me today to apologise. She told me she'd put in a request for Louisa to have a repeat x-ray to be done but didn't know what happened which caused the X-ray department not to get it. She reassured me that everything is in place and Louisa can still have it done today. I'm glad I rang before going. Imagine bringing both girls all the way there and to find out we've got to go another day because it had not been scheduled. You can't get annoyed with someone who sounded so sincere and apologetic, can you?

'Nothing Much You Can Do'

What do you do when you don't get the support you need?
Where do you head from there?
What can you do to make one communicate?
That takes a lot of hardwork.
You can try and try,
But there's only that much you can do.
It takes two hands to clap
If one's not willing,
There's nothing much you can do.

What do you do if what you ask for falls on deaf ears?
Where do you head from there?
You can bribe
You can threaten
You can beg
Maybe give an ultimatum
But there's only that much you can do.
It takes two hands to clap.
It one's not willing,
There's really nothing much you can do.

Glitter...Glitter...

Louisa and I sat down together some weeks back to add glitter to these lovely pictures I downloaded from the internet. I think she did a better job then me.

Hospital Stay

Thank you all for your well wishes. Louisa has now fully recovered. On her discharge form:

Diagnosis: viral induced wheeze

? atypical pneumonia

I rang the hospital to double-check her appointment for her repeat x-ray but was told there was nothing on the system under her name. I was then asked to ring the consultant's secretary and she told me to ring the ward instead as it is their responsibility to make the appointment. A nurse from the ward took down Louisa's details and said someone will ring me back once they've contacted the consultant regarding this matter.

Milestones

Louisa had started having lunch in school since last Friday. She used to go to 'lunch club' after nursery twice a week. Now in Reception, she stays for another hour everyday to have a hot lunch. She can choose between a hot meal or bring her own lunch bag. I used to prepare her lunch but now, she wants to go to the food counter and choose what she wants to eat. I think it's good for her as she gets to make her own decision and me, I don't have to prepare her lunch. I used to crack my head over what to put into her lunch bag but now I leave it to the tea lady in school.

After the New Year, Louisa will be joining those who were born in Autumn and Winter for full school days. Instead of staying in school from 9-1pm which she does now, she'll be there from 9-3pm. It's quite long hours compared to her peers who attend nursery in Singapore.

Lavigne, who had been going to Stepping Notes (music class) with Louisa for the past 1.5 yrs, went for her own first lesson today. Unfortunately, she wasn't keen to join in. I think it's perhaps I woke her up from her nap just before the lesson and she was confused, thinking that it's Louisa's class. She has hers at 2.05pm while Louisa's lesson is at 4pm. I'm glad she joined in with the other children at Louisa's class which meant she didn't feel good being woken up and not that she didn't like going to her own class. I'm also glad that the class is held at a hall just 5min's walk away.

Birthday Photos (Finally!)

Here are the photos of Lavigne's 2nd birthday. I was still waiting for my sister to send me the pics when I realised she'd already asked my dad's secretary to do so. Unfortunately, she forgot to include me in her mailing list and Adrian and the rest of my sisters got them except me. So I asked the other half to forward me the pics instead.
