Car Boot Sale

Today, I went to the car boot sale along A3 with Fenni. It's not my first trip there and I've got good buys from previous trips. Even though I've been wanting to go again for the past couple of weeks, I didn't manage to get round to it. Thank God Fenni rang me and suggested going. It was the biggest ever haul for me! Best of all, I got all that I'd wanted to get. To be honest, I've never been interested in car boot sales at all. Not to sound snobbish but I'm not a person who's comfortable with things that had been used. It's just me. But my ex-neighbour had told me about all the great things she had bought from that particular car boot sale. I thought it'd be good to check it out.

To my surprise, not all things are old. There are many stalls selling brand new items. More surprisingly, the veg and fruit seller that goes to Adrian's college every Tuesday is there too! What got me hooked? The unbelievably cheap stuff on offer. How can one charge items that sometimes cost close to nothing? A lot of the things are in such good condition. I bought a large laundry basket last year for only 50 pence and an ELC 'Art Centre' which cost me only 2 pounds (usual retail price is 35pounds) a couple of weeks back.

Things I'm usually interested in are toys, books and household items. What I bought today?
  1. Sandpit (1 pound)
  2. Safety gate (2 pounds)
  3. Brand new tricycle (3.50 pounds)
  4. Brand new parasol (5 pounds)
  5. Good condition Tigger Bouncer (50 pence)
  6. Like-new Ikea bead roller coaster (1 pound)
  7. Like-new Lego baseplate (20 pence)
  8. 2 boxes of Disney Princesses jigsaw puzzles, new (50 pence each)
  9. Like-new ELC big numbers flashcards (50 pence)
  10. Brand new Disney Princesses Story book and Movie Projector (2 pounds)
  11. Like-new large hardboard storybook (FOC, I was looking at it and the seller said I could just take it as a toy was missing)

Another nice old lady whom I bought the sandpit from wanted to give me a wooden kiddie pushcart which I turned down politely as I have no use for it. Good buys? I sure think so! I'm most glad I FINALLY(!!!) bought the safety gate. On 2 previous occasions, I'd seen one but I thought that I'd find better or cheaper ones. To my dismay, I didn't manage to find any others and when I went back, they'd been sold. So I told myself today that I'd grab the first one I saw. 2 pounds for a 'Safety 1st' stair gate......what an excellent buy! I did see another one after I bought this but the seller wanted 8 pounds for it. I was gleaming from ear to ear.

Thank you Fenni! Without you, I might not have gone to the car boot sale and even if I did, I wouldn't have managed to carry everything back to the car myself.
