Please help!

Dear Readers,

Several of my friends had asked me to start a designing business. I had found joy in digital scrapbooking and some of them had requested me to design birthday posters for their children. If I can make money out of my own interest, why not? You may have seen my work previously in this blog. I'm doing a market research at the moment to see if this idea will work. Can you please help by taking a poll? I want to find out how much will you pay for my design.

Thank you for taking part!

Hi Roslyn,
How do I print the poster if I ask you to help me design one??

Roslyn,
what abt a package? :)
Eg. Digital Invit, Digital Thank-you, Digital Poster.
Then the customer chooses whether to print or not.
Think most people no idea where to print, u'd need to pass them printer contact in SG too.

Ros, btw I loved the different styles of Sharwyn's and Shaynnen's posters :) .
U've built up a big portfolio with ur own kids' and others'- potential customer can simply pick which design they like, less hassle for u! :)

Hi Lily ann,

I can give you the contact should you need to print.

Mel,
Thanks for your suggestions. Yes, am thinking of a package too, as well as just a scrap-page, minibook etc.

Hi Roslyn,

No problem about printing contact!I can pass you a contact for your potential customers... :D

The lady is quite nice and helpful. It costs me $28 to print the poster for RX, 800mm by 800mm and comes laminated.

KC,

Thanks!

Kel,

Thank you for taking part. Yes, the result so far is quite discouraging. Some designs I spent ages on so if someone pays me just S$20, it's not quite worth the effort. Maybe I should do like what Mel suggested. Just use the available designs for a lower price and customised ones will be charged more.

Ros, I'm willing to pay $40-$60 for just the poster design without printing. I must factor in the printing cost, depending on size, can go up to additional $70.

But if package, the above poll figures will not be valid. You have to charge more than $100.

I find picking a "ready template" design has less surprises, especially for a paid product. Ur portfolio very extensive already, mah :) .

have u thot about charging by the hour? i think it's only fair that your clients pay u for the time u spent designing the posters. :)

i would agree with u, cos i myself is into DSB.
some takes many weeks to do.
