Spuds - Final

bing's shepherd pie

I can't believe I cooked 5kg worth of potatoes in......4 days! Oh well, at least they were all used up before they start to sprout (Lanyi, I'll have to try your household tip another time).

Sat - chicken curry
Mon - crisps
Tues - roast potatoes AND shepherd's pie

It's officially a record in our family now. Don't think about the carbs, don't think about the carbs! Breathe....breathe....breathe....NO! Start running!

We didn't have a roast dinner AND shepherd's pie yesterday. It was my day off so I thought I'd make them both and keep the pie in the fridge for dinner today. Even though I was mad to do that (I was in the kitchen for half a day), it was a good decision afterall as I was totally knackered after work (manic day) today. Since I didn't have to rush home to make dinner, the girls got to spend some time in the playground after school.

After heating the pie up in the oven, the meat became really juicy, almost like gravy consistency. It was a winner with the girls as they finished everything up (Louisa had second helping). That was comfort food for me. Am I sick of potatoes? You bet! Actually it's more of the peeling of the skin that puts me off. Will I be having more potatoes? Unlikely for this week. But the potato saga continues - I'm doing creative work with children using potatoes. Hah!

For the recipe, please visit here. Seriously! You've got to try it!

Bing: Too much potatoes for the week! But that was a really delicious pie. Thanks!

Teng: Ahhh! You should be here, the spud lover.
