I'm officially over the other side of 30s. It does feel a little scary. In a short few years, I'll be 40. OH! The big 4! I can't really imagine myself heading towards it. Mind you, my husband always say I still act like a 3 year old.
So what did I do today? I woke up in the morning feeling rather good, thinking 'it's my day' today. I thought maybe I should have a lie-in or just put my feet up. Trouble is I couldn't. It's a school day and the girls need to get ready for school and A's sandwich had to be made. As I still don't have a car, a friend came by to take the girls to school. A went in our neighbour's car to get to the train station. Yes, for the past couple of days, we had been relying on friends with the ferrying.
After everyone had left, I had more phonecalls to make. Insurance company, car manufacturer, garage etc. Once that was done, there were beds to make and things to pick up. When I thought it was finally time for me to relax, I saw crumbs on the rug, couldn't stand the sight of it and had it hoovered. Before I even know it, Emily and her baby had arrived and I was still in my PJ! They were here to celebrate my birthday with me. How sweet! I excused myself to get changed while she fed her baby. Then another friend, C, arrived. She just had her birthday last Saturday so we're having a joint celebration. We chatted a while before heading out to a nearby pub for lunch. The weather was glorious! I wore a little sundress and sandals. I could forget about the car issue until the garage get back to me about the extent of damage later in the day.
What really made my day was receiving texts and messages on FB from friends and family wishing me happy birthday. A asked if he should get me a cake to which I declined. Facing a big car repair bill, I thought we shouldn't waste money on a little cake. Having said that, I always buy cakes for my family when it's their birthday. It's mandatory to me.
The day's almost over and we're waiting for A to come home with dinner. I'm having a headache now, not sure why and I didn't drink at lunch. My boss will be dropping her car off shortly. Yes, my really nice boss has offered to loan me one of her cars since there's no one driving it. In times of crisis, you realise there are so many helpful people around. I feel blessed. I really should be.

Happy Birthday, Roslyn! Welcome to the 30s club. =)
Thanks, Bing! I'm almost in the 40s Club.
Oh gosh, I'm so sorry I forgot it was the 27th! I just vaguely remembered it was at the end of April. Happy Belated Birthday and glad you had a nice day. Sigh, and I called you and didn't wish you, sorry!!!!
Val: Thanks! Don't worry about it being late. Haha! I thought you rang me yesterday about that but we talked about cars non-stop.
Happy birthday again! Age is just a number, remember? ;)
PS: On my FB page, there were about 4 ppl with bdays on the 26th, 2 on 27th & 2 on 28th.. and more later. What auspicious dates, eh??
Happy Belated Birthday :)
Tsu Lin: I just found out a couple of people have birthdays during this week too.
Chip-pea: Thanks!
Just noticed your updates on CAKES! Droollllls.. where did he buy those? Looks absolutely delish. Reminds me of those you can find in Asia/Malaysia, ie buying individual pieces of cakes instead of forcing you to get the whole cake for a small family of 2/3/4 which you have to eat every meal for the next 2 days.
Tsu Lin: A had wanted to buy a cake from Patisserie Valerie when I asked him not to. He must have passed by a cakeshop in Chinatown when he went to dabao dinner. I think it's a good idea too and you get a variety.
A's so sweet. Dinner AND cakes! You obviously have a great birthday dinner then?
PS : Patisserie Valeris is my fav cake shop. I love their cakes.
I was actually going to make dinner when he called to ask me not to. I certainly didn't complain. Have you tried Caffe Concerto's cakes? They're very good too!
