Each morning after A left for work, the girls and I would have a leisurely breakfast in the room. Then I will get the girls to do their Kumon worksheet for the day before venturing out. That's right, get the not-so-fun stuff out of the way first.
The weather looked rather promising for the day. I was happy there was no rain so the sunshine was a bonus! When we stepped out of the hotel, a crowd was gathering at the square.
The office block next door was having a fire drill. So the square was fast filling with people who took the opportunity to bask in the sunshine.
Today, I'd planned to bring the girls to the Castle and Museum of Childhood. We walked everywhere except the day when we went to Royal Botanical Gardens which was further away. The reason why I chose to travel by foot was because there's more to see. I can always stop to take pictures. The girls were brilliant! They didn't complain about having to walk.
The Royal Lyceum Theatre right across the hotel.
Starting our trek up to Castle Hill.
At the foot of the castle.
I got distracted along the way.
Looking down to Grass Market.
We're getting closer to the castle.
Ops! Let's tackle those steep flight of steps first.
Ahhh! *Huff and puff* We're finally there!
View of Princes Street from up the hill.
Castle entrance.
Another view of Princes Street from within the castle grounds.
We began our walk down to High Street towards the Museum.
St Giles Cathedral.
'Witches' who conduct Witchery Tours?
An alleyway.
Our destination. An excellent place to go to especially those with kids. It was very educational and interesting. All those toys from the past. Entry's free too!
Look at all those dollhouses!
Inside a dollhouse.
This doll was a little eerie looking.
I'll have these dolls than Barbie.
S, the moment Lavigne saw this doll (11), she said, 'Mummy! She looks like D___'. What do you think?
The good cheh-cheh tying shoe lace for meh-meh.
North Bridge.
Very elaborate and ornate - the Scott Monument.
Afternoon swimming for kids runs from 3-5pm. We went back to the hotel so that the girls could have a dip.
A returned from work and we went out for dinner. No cooking for one whole week. What bliss!
Hmmm.......Dick didn't like bathing during those days?
Castle view in the evening.
Coming up: Day 3 - a wet and cloudy day.
