Trip to hospital, party preparation and visitors

I went to have an X-ray done on my ankle this morning. My GP suggested I have one for 'precautionary purposes'. The ligament is still tender and sore but other than that, I feel OK. The radiologist told me that the X-ray will be with my GP 'in a couple of weeks'. My father-in-law said that either my foot will be in a bad condition or will have healed by then. Adrian asked me what if I need a cast now but won't know till weeks later when the X-ray is ready. NHS constantly baffles me. Just like the last time when Louisa had a chest X-ray. Her GP only received it a few weeks later. I wondered what if she had a chest infection then? Her condition would have deteriorated and we would have to bring her back to the GP who would not have received the X-ray yet. Then what? Thankfully, she was alright.

Louisa's birthday party is just one week away. Everything, except for food, had been purchased. Last year's main project was on the costumes and cake. I also had to prepare the food and all these took up so much time I didn't do much decoration. This year, the birthday cake is still a main feature but I won't be sewing any costume for the girls. I'm only making the leis and floral bracelets for Louisa's friends. My mum had bought ready-made leis for the girls which my mother-in-law will bring with her. My mum and Adrian suggested buying the ready-made leis for the guests but at S$2 each, they will cost more than S$30 for all the child guests which in my opinion is too much. So I bought some materials to make myself. Adrian said that though I saved SOME money, they are time-consuming to make. I agree they take time to make but I enjoy the making process so I'm fine with it. Decoration-wise, I'd ordered some online and my mother-in-law's bringing mini lanterns.

More things to be done:
1. Chocolate wordings (Louisa's name)
2. Cupcake decorations to make in advance
3. Cake display stand
4. Prepare goodie bags
5. Buy food on Friday (my fridge's very small, not sure if there'll be enough space and the cake will have to be chilled at friend's place like last year)
6. Plan more games

My mother-in-law will be arriving on Tuesday and then my sister, Joanne who's transiting from Spain, next Sunday. My father-in-law had been here since beginning of July and will stay with my mother-in-law till end September. I think that's about all the guests we will have for this year. There'd been an endless stream of visitors since April and even though I do like having them (preferably for a reasonable period of time and with breaks in between), I get totally stressed out worrying about where to let them sleep in this tiny house and what to feed them. Our sitting room doubles up as our guest room. Even though they have said I need not have to fuss, I don't think they quite understand how it feels being the host. Maybe it's just me but I also have a friend who gets so stressed over having visitors (day visit) because she needs to cook for them. I don't think life is quite the same when there are visitors around. So I'm actually looking forward to some normality when all the guests leave.
