Fingers crossed (Part 1)

What went through your minds when you stumbled on my post titled 'Fingers crossed' and nothing else?

It should havve been a happy post and not what I was going to write. OK. No more suspense. I went for a review at The Parapet (breast screening centre) this morning. Had an ultrasound scan and saw the doctor who told me there wasn't any significant changes to the lumps. So she's doing to discharge me. Hooray(!)......until I got to my car and saw the yellow and black pocket stuck to my car's windscreen. I received my first parking penalty.

This small hospital has an even smaller carpark. It is impossible to find a car park space. The previous 2 times when I went there, a friend accompanied me and I went in her car. Both times, she didn't get a space and had to park somewhere 'dodgy'. Luckily for her, she didn't get any tickets. Today, I went myself and made several rounds without any success. So I parked halfway on a pavement like many other cars did. I was stressed enough over this appointment, having lost sleep over it the previous day so I wasn't really bothered about where I parked. Moreoever, I thought it's the hospital, the enforement officers should be more lenient. I. WAS. WRONG.

These officers can't wait to pounce on us drivers. Read about this. We're just some innocent (ok, not entirely but we have our reasons), your day-to-day residents here. Why can't they be more sympathetic and understanding? Oh, I forgot. When another of my friend got a ticket for overparking for about 5 minutes and went to have a word with the officer, he told her he enjoys 'catching people like you'. Can you believe that? I had planned to pick up my repaired ring from Swarovski in Windsor but was no longer in the mood for it. Adrian told me to consider that money had gone towards my treatment and be glad that there's no change in my condition. I should be. Like Syl said, money can be earned. What's more important is good health which is true.

So the penalty is £60 but will be reduced to £30 if it is paid within 14 days. Still, I'm upset over it. Just the other day, Adrian suggested going to the Chinese Restaurant for dinner. I decided not to in order to save that £20+ and see what happens now? Argh! To think that I had spent money buying clothes for the girls during the sale last Saturday.

But at this point of time, I'm feeling much better after having a little chat with Syl online whilst writing this post. We're planning to meet up in London during the half-term break. Yippee!

I think your itinerary to London should read:

1) Lovely tea at some reputable tearoom
2) Playtime at the park for the kids to expend their energy.
3) Slip in a store or 2 for shopping???!!! Heehee...

At this point, I'm thinking the Kensington area for all the activities.

Can't wait to catch up! xx

And once again, praise God for the results of your condition.

Roslyn, so glad that your scan came out alright! Phew.

Re parking penalty : You know about the chinese saying "Using fortune (usually means lose money) to avert danger".. £30/£60 is still hefty but at least you're healthy, correct?

(pfft! I had to delete the 1st comment cos of my grammar.. :P)

Tsulin,

Thank you! You're right! But it annoys me thinking how the money can be better spent.
