Finally! We had some sunshine today. I took the opportunity to bring the girls to the cinema to watch 'Dr Seuss' Horton Hears a Who'. That was such a delightful film. After days of rain, this half-term has proven to be somewhat boring. We had planned for a short getaway but due to Adrian's job circumstances (which had gotten more complicated), we had to cancel that. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise since the weather had been so bad. Well, the one good thing about the rain is my hayfever got better. Thank you all for your well wishes and kind advice. I bought a new box of antihistamine. The pharmacist told me there are different types of ingredients so I tried a different one. Fingers crossed, so far so good. I took one this morning before going out. While driving in the car and walking on the street, I could see so much pollen floating about and made a conscious effort to avoid them.
Remember this? I'm getting quite annoyed with it really. I get a reaction even when eating a small apple, Chinese pear, nectarine, skin on or off. It comes rather quickly, before I can even finish the whole fruit. My throat gets itchy and becomes sore while my lips start to swell. Hey! No need for botox! But seriously though, the cherry season is starting and there's no way I'm going to avoid them. Also, I can't possibly just eat berries (so far no allergic reactions) which are horribly expensive.
Lastly, some pictures from a visit to a friend's house last week. The house she is renting comes with a massive garden! Absolutely humongous! It's literally a park. I can't even see the far end of it.
Our cherry tomato plant. The girls and I shared the ripe one this afternoon just for a taste of it. It was really sweet and juicy.
