I went to our local haberdashery yesterday to look for some contrasting fabric to the ones I'd bought at Ebay in order to make the garments for the girls. Much to my delight, the shop has started bringing in the type of prints that I like. I might ask them if they will bring in more of those the next time I go. Oh it'll be much cheaper to buy by the metre at the shop then. One roll caught me eye straight away. It is a shabby chic rose print which I simply adore. I bought a metre of that plus half a metre of a pink one with white spots. They will make a lovely summer dress. Beside those, I also bought some brown spotty and olive green fabrics.
This is what I made for Louisa out of one of the floral prints I bought at Ebay and the brown spotty one last night.
I followed this tutorial. It is pretty easy to make. But due to my poor sewing skills, the waistband and hem band turn out to be slightly too short so I had to make some adjustments along the way. Even though the stitches were less than perfect, I'm still proud of my creation. The last time I made a skirt was in Secondary 1 for a Home Economics class. Oh I forgot! I did hand sew Louisa's mermaid costume for her 4th's birthday party.

You're back! Ok, no pressure but I will wait patiently for your posts and photos. We went to Horniman Museum last Saturday and realised we were very close to your place. If you were around, would have dropped by to give her the haircut. Sure! Let's arrange something.
This is so gorgeous! I love beautiful fabrics and would love to accumulate some beautiful fabrics. But that day will not see light because my sloppy hands/fingers coupled with my impatience will probably ruin any chances of the fabrics turning into a beyoutiful work of art.
I love that skirt you made for Louisa and can't wait to see what happens to the light-blue background with the pink roses. (That pattern looks so familiar!)

Oh this skirt wasn't hand sewn. I used a mini sewing machine to make it.
