My glossies

Collection of Magazines

So I do love photo frames. I love my magazines too. Nope, I no longer buy women's glossies like Glamour or Marie Claire. These days I pop home interior or lifestyle mags into my supermarket trolley when I do my grocery shopping. Celeb gossips interest me less even though I still buy the odd OK mag when there's a big story like the Royal Wedding. But I'll rather be reading up on garden landscaping, getting ideas about transforming a room or learn how to clean a house with less hassle. Am I really an obasan now?

How do I choose my magazines? I have my regular reads. But when I'm standing in front of the magazine shelf, I'll scan through and see what catches my eye.

Ideal Home Magazine

The cover of this magazine is so bright and cheery or should I say pretty. Yes, I'm such a sucker for these things. But more importantly, I like the articles in it. 'Get ready for summer', yes(!), bring it on! I'd just come home from TBFT and was feeling excited about spending summer in the UK this year.

Next, I'll scan through the headings.  Anything interesting or relevant?

Country Home and Interiors Magazine

Hmm....I like the sound of this - 'Dreamy Summer Days'. A quick browse revealed plenty of pretty pictures inside. I did say I like pretty things, didn't I?

So which magazines do I buy regularly? I LOVE, simply love Real Simple.

Real Simple Magazine

You see the tagline there? 'Life Made Easier'. Just what I like and need. In each issue, many topics are covered.

Real Simple Magazine

I particularly like the 'Solutions' section. Many tips are shared here.

There's also the very interesting 'Life Lessons'.

See, it does cover everything under the sun.

Of course, there's always things to read from the 'Features' section.

Real Simple Magazine

This is one section I enjoy reading the most. From techniques and tips in the kitchen to simple and yummy-looking recipes. It helps when the pictures look great too!

Lastly, there's the 'Clip and Save' pages where you can cut out concise articles and file them away. But I'll rather keep the whole magazine.

Martha Stewart's Living

The other magazine I like is Martha Stewart's Living magazine. But hers is more of a themed magazine. She covers something different every month like in the month of October, it'll be all about Halloween and everything red, gold and tinsels for the December issue. Therefore, I don't buy it every month because not everything interests me.

Like Real Simple, I like the styling of the pictures in Living too. The latter can be found in my local WhSmith. But I've only ever seen Real Simple at Luton Airport. My friend, V, who introduced both magazines to me(thank you!), sometimes buy it for me from Waterloo Station. A managed to get the newsagent near his office to bring in the magazine but he's been working away at clients' offices so he's not been able to pick up the magazine for me. I'll have to either rely on V or open a subscription account with my local WhSmith for them to bring it in. But that'll mean I have to purchase every single issue. So far all issues have been good and informative. I'll probably start a subscription soon.

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. I'm simply sharing which magazines I like to buy and read.
